Prabrajika Vivekpranma: A Ray of Hope and Transformation

Prabrajika Vivekpranma is not just a name; she is a beacon of hope for countless individuals struggling with life’s challenges. Leaving behind her purbashram (pre-monastic life), she embraced a path of selfless service, dedicating her life to uplifting the needy with boundless compassion and care. Her determination to work for women’s empowerment has driven transformative development initiatives across Nadia district in West Bengal.

As the Assistant Secretary of Sree Sarada Ashrama, Prabrajika Vivekpranma has been instrumental in building the Raghunathpur unit in Kalyani. Deeply inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna, and Maa Sarada Devi, she embodies their vision of a society where women are confident, self-reliant, and empowered.

When Prabrajika Vivekpranma first arrived in what is now the vibrant area near AIIMS Kalyani, the place was a dense jungle, inhospitable and forsaken. Undeterred by the challenges, she reached out to the local community, knocking on doors and seeking support to bring positive change. Her journey began with small but significant steps, such as establishing an outpatient department (OPD) for eye care with the help of well-wishers.

Over time, this initiative blossomed into the Nivedita Eye Care Hospital, a fully functional hospital that now serves over 5,000 patients annually. From cataract surgeries to providing spectacles, the hospital addresses a wide range of eye-related issues. Remarkably, the hospital is managed entirely by women, many of whom are single mothers or women abandoned by their families. Through this initiative, these women have found not just livelihoods but also a sense of purpose and dignity, serving patients with compassion and care.

Prabrajika Vivekpranma has not only inspired women to lead better lives but has also created an ecosystem of empowerment and self-reliance. Her unwavering commitment and vision have transformed lives, turning a neglected area into a thriving community hub. She embodies the spirit of Maa Sarada’s dream—a society where women are confident and empowered to shape their destinies.
